MONKEY ON A STOOL

Eight-thirty, I stroll in, bag and guitar
Fifteen minutes set up, grab a beer from the bar
Nine to One, I do my show
Grab my money, and I hit the road

I play ‘em Blues, I play them rock
I play ‘em some Irish, hell, they think it’s Pop
I play ‘em songs, written by you know who
Don’t matter what I play, I’m a “Monkey On A Stool

Chorus
Don’t sing to loud, don’t play to slow
Keep them quiet, son, put on a good show
Not an ounce of applause, for the songs I do
It’s another night of, the Dubliner Blues

Bridge
I sing “Mickey Mouse is screwing Donald Duck
And take a quick look around
No one would pay me no attention
Even if I told them the pub is burning down

I don’t dream, of my name up in lights
Or getting discovered, one of these nights
But no work is no money, and a man’s gotta eat
It ain’t no fun, living out on the street

Chorus
Don’t sing to loud, don’t play to slow
Keep them quiet, son, put on a good show
Not an ounce of applause, for the songs I do
It’s another night of, the Dubliner Blues
