When you were a child, I hoped the day would come
That’s a beautiful grown woman you would be
The day is came and past, a couple years in fact
You don’t know how proud you’ve made me

I remember the day you were born
It was like a dream had come true
Nine months of waiting just to see
I’ve never forget my first look at you

You were my little girl
Part of my flesh and blood
Your pretty green eyes looking up at me
Filling my heart with love

Well 18 years have passed
Since that beautiful day
I look at you now, with your long brown hair
You know, I just gotta say

You were my little girl
But there’s a woman now I see
Go out and show the whole wide world
Be what you want to be
